Winter Kale Soup, tweaked...

So I added a few more ingredients to my soup tonight.  I added about 5 small russet potatoes, cut up, and about 4 cups of mushrooms.  It looks so yummy!!!

Last weeks recipes....

Winter kale Soup
2 T Olive oil
1 Med onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 lb turkey italian sausage, broken up
1 lb acorn squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1" chunks
1 bunch kale, ribs cut away, leaves torn
5 1/2 c broth (veggie or chicken)
2 cans any type white beans, drained and rinsed
1 T freshly chopped thyme
salt and pepper

In a dutch oven, cook onion and garlic with oil until fragrant, and sausage, cook until no longer pink. Season salt and pepper. Add squash and kale and cook until kale is wilted, 3 min. Season. Add broth, beans, and thyme. Bring to simmer and cook until squash and kale are tender, about 12 min. Season to liking and serve.

Deceptive yummy:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Dip

1/2 c peanut butter
1/2 c cream cheese
6 T chocolate syrup
1/4 c carrot puree
1/2 t salt
items for dipping, i.e. fruit slices

stir together all ingredients until creamy. Serve as dessert or snack.

Okay...

......Let's make a quilt with all those receiving blankets...

First I cut out my pattern. You can use any type of hard-style material.  Cereal boxes do the trick great.   Then I traced the patterns onto the blankets and cut them out.
After all my blankets are cut, I lay them out to create a pattern.  Crazy thing is, I have enough pieces to make yet another quilt.

After the pattern is laid, I stack them in neat piles so I won't forget which way I wanted them while I sew.

Now onto sewing, you can pin all the pieces from one row together so you don't mess up their order, but after a few rows you won't need to pin them anymore.

Sew the pieces 1/4 inch together.  Just sew the rows together first, then we will go back and sew all of the rows together.  Right now I am sewing my rows.  Will post again when I am ready for the next step.  Cheers!
